Explore Scoresby Sound in Greenland
Join us on a Greenland photo tour with our expert team! East Greenland is one of the best places in the Arctic to photograph breathtaking landscapes and massive icebergs. We will use the expedition ship MV Polar Pioneer to explore the world’s largest fjord system – Scoresby Sound. The main subjects on this Greenland photo tour will be grand landscapes and icebergs, and hopefully also some wildlife.
This Greenland photo tour will be scheduled for longer stops when going ashore in order to provide participants with enough time to get excellent pictures. We use 5-6 zodiac boats for landings or when cruising around photographing icebergs. There will be a maximum of 50 guests on this expedition.
East Greenland is famous for its enormous icebergs and grand landscapes. It does not have the density of wildlife we normally see on Svalbard. However, there might be possibilities for photographing seabirds, Musk oxs, and Polar bears.
Itinerary Greenland East
We will schedule this Greenland photo tour in accordance with prevailing weather and ice conditions. Our captain is an expert navigator in Arctic conditions. He is an important advisor in planning the expedition in a manner that allows us to maximise the photo opportunities and enjoyment of this trip.
DAY 1 - Departure from Akureyri, Iceland heading toward Greenland.
DAY 2 - At sea heading toward Greenland.
DAY 3-9 - Exploring the Scoresby Sound fjord system – the world’s largest fjord system. This area offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the Arctic with jagged mountains, large glaciers and some of the largest and most beautiful icebergs.
DAY 10 - At sea heading toward Iceland.
DAY 11 - Arriving Akureyri, Iceland
